Topsector Water & Maritime's Start of the Year Summit

The question from Topsector Water & Maritime

Topsector Water & Maritime was founded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate. Its primary objective is to bolster the economy by promoting innovations, leveraging international opportunities, addressing societal challenges, expanding human capital, and investing in scientific research.

Topsector Water & Maritime's Summit that takes place every quarter aims to align the perspectives of 60 to 90 experts from diverse backgrounds - industry associations, officials, entrepreneurs, and scientists. The experts collaborate intensively to draft policies. It is only during these summits that they meet in-person.

In former Summits discussions were too general, people didn’t use the potential of the diverse perspectives and the program was too fully packed leading to little tangible results and progress.

LeftFieldStudio was asked to guide the next Summit to overcome these challenges.

Results

Guided by Leftfield, over 62 experts deliberated on February 7, 2023, regarding the recalibration of eight water and maritime missions. The results: the integration of different perspectives and a clear collective vision for the next steps.

Key characteristics of the approach that led to this result:

  • Experts collaborated in multidisciplinary subteams.

  • Every participant was actively involved and everyone's opinion was valued.

  • Using a structered Design Thinking methodology.

What the client says

Marcelien Bos-de Koning works as the Communications Manager at Topsector Water & Maritime. About the collaboration with LeftField Studio she says:

"When people hit a roadblock, Leftfield is simply brilliant. Beau simplified the process. His preparations posed the right questions, bringing clarity quickly. During the event, he engaged everyone interactively. Such engagement eases subsequent collaborations. In half a day, he guided a diverse group to a specific outcome, which is commendable. The collaboration with Leftfield has significantly accelerated the process.’’
